Porto Azzurro
Porto Azzurro is a clear reference to the colour of the sea, although originally the place was called Longone and 1873 Porto Longone, with clear allusion to the length of the port. Only the 1947 town took its current name. The country stands foot of the promontory culminating in the fortress Longone, also known as S. James, built by Philip II of Spain in 1563. The medieval town, by characterizing the marina, overlooking the greater inlet of the East, giving a picturesque village to the sailor, comprising up with streets, small stone facades, angles and suggestive large square, overlooking the Water port.
